I’ve gone through more than my share of MFi game controllers. Some are too small, some are too bulky, and most of them require a special USB cable to charge. The first controller that has fixed all of these problems in a single, nearly perfect package is the Steelseries Nimbus. Truly the be best MFi controller for iOS and Apple TV. So what makes this the best MFi controller? Just about everything is really well done. The buttons fell great and respond well and the sticks are the same. The shoulder and trigger buttons are great as well. What review would be complete without at least one complaint. And of course my complaint may not apply to you. I prefer the layout of the Xbox controllers with the left stick and d-pad swapped from their positions on this Playstation style layout. But that’s just me. Can’t please everyone. The addition of a Lightning connector makes this so much easier to charge than the old USB micro style. I use a single cable to swap between my iPhone, iPad, Apple TV remote, and now Nimbus controller. Charging them as needed. The Steelseries Nimbus is available now from all Apple Stores and online for $50. Oddly it’s not on Amazon yet though. Great to see the prices come down from their original highs for MFi controllers too.
